Our Story
Matsuri International Co., Ltd was founded in 2003 in Thailand, built on a foundation of Thai-Japanese business heritage. From the beginning, our focus has been on one thing: supplying the highest-quality natural charcoal to buyers who demand premium standards.
Our Thai-Japanese roots give us a unique position in the global charcoal market. Japan has the world’s most demanding standards for charcoal quality — particularly for yakitori and robata restaurants that require zero-spark, zero-smoke combustion. Having built deep connections in the Japanese market from our earliest years, we apply those same quality standards to every product we produce and every export market we serve.
Matsuri International developed and applies a proprietary A-grade classification system: A1 (premium export grade), A2, A3, and A4. This system gives buyers across 30+ countries a consistent, reliable standard to order against. A1 is exported almost exclusively to Japan and Korea. A2 and A3 cover the majority of our UAE, GCC, and Australian markets.
The Matsuri group operates through two entities: Matsuri International Co., Ltd (Thailand) handles manufacturing, grading, and export. Matsuri Commercial Co.,Ltd (JP) handles trading and distribution across Japan. Both entities operate under the same quality standards and sourcing infrastructure.
